Another speculative project for my own pleasure. The vintage spats-and-cigar image is on old favorite of mine, and works well with this vintage-style logo inspired by the stories of the British humorist P. G. Wodehouse. For those who follow him, “Mulliner’s” is of course a direct reference to the Mr Mulliner series from the 1930’s and 40’s. A very enjoyable project. I envisioned a purposefully dated aesthetic, to indicate the kind of bookstore I would likely spend hours perusing. I think we all remember a book shop like this at some point in our lives; just one location run by a single elderly gentleman, no espresso bar or fancy amenities, just books from floor to ceiling, with the dust of ages hanging in the air. Tote bags and bookmarks available to those who want to show their loyalty, and gift certificates are written out by hand. A welcome, unplugged escape from the modern hyperconnected world– just for those who know. Take me there!
