A concept that I’ve had knocking around for a while now. Rodolfo Biagi (1906 — 1969) was an Argentine pianist who was famous for his rhythmic, staccato style of tango music. This illustration was inspired by the feeling I get while dancing to his music, and the imagery of the song title “Esperame en el Cielo,” included below.
Creating the finished product took a long period of trial and error. Below I included both the original lineart and a separate hand-colored version that I ended up rejecting in favor of photoshop.
“Espérame en el Cielo,” by Rodolfo Biagi (1958). Vocalist: Hugo Duval.
