In honor of my upcoming trip to Naples, I decided to design and illustrate a new postcard. The Mano Cornuto (Horned Hand) is an ancient good luck sign, the original “Rock On!” gesture, and is still very common in Naples, especially as a charm or pendant.
As usual, I started out with a simple scanned line drawing — in this case, I went with a more line-heavy, woodcut style to match the theme. When I colored it in photoshop, I offset the registration of the color layers to give the impression of vintage-style lithography.

After a month-long travel break in Europe, I’ve been feeling overdue for some new drawings. This one’s inspired by the architectural style of buildings I saw in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) last year.

I was inspired the other day by another artist who presented redwood trees in this wonderful, bold, minimal style. I had a to give it a go myself.

A return to ink wash. Alas, I still haven’t figure out how to prevent the paper from buckling.

A late-night sketch of analog gauges. That is all.
